Fluid Film Coating Simulation


In our example the part is dipped into a VOF bath using Overset Mesh to model the motion, on being pulled back out of the bath it picks up a Fluid Film coating, and we can see the resultant thickness (as shown by the scalar on the surface) is far from even – perhaps we need to change our dipping process. As the film runs down the part, it drips off as Lagrangian droplets, and the droplets finally drip back into the VOF bath (thanks to the Lagrangian-VOF multiphase interaction model). 

This example took 12 hours on 10 cores, orders of magnitude less than would have been required for a resolved VOFmodel.
